Backstory time!

On my way home yesterday, I was passed by three aggressive looking vehicles, bunched tight together in the far-left lane of the Tri-State northbound.  They moved together as a convoy as they sped northward.

• 1st car: Secretary of State Police
• 2nd car: Customs and Border Police
• 3rd car:  Customs and Border Police SUV

OOH!  Couldn't find a news item.  My first thought was maybe a bust on a place illegally importing impostor designer merchandise, but it looks like the SoS police manage vehicle theft investigations.

Any thoughts on what they could have been doing?



ETA: Oh, hey, there's a Customs and Border Police branch in Waukegan, that covers the airport there.  Hmmm.
