Aug. 22nd, 2003 11:52 amThe Sobig F worm just got nastier: late yesterday some techs disovered something sneaky in the code: at 3p.m. ET today, every infected machine is going to be instructed to access one of 20 PCs running something unidentifiable. (It's also supposed to happen again on Sunday.)
If the net slows down then, at least you'll know why. Holy CARP.
Finnish antivirus dudes have found and disconnected more than half of the 20 machines, and they're still trying to get to the other ones, but even one could cause problems if the code is intensely malicious.
Edit: Cool antivirus guys found and disconnected all 20 machines. Apparently they were just regular old users, totally unaware that they were going to be the Typhoid Marys. Wow.
Edit-Edit: here's a nifty page to look at. Tells the Internet traffic stats all over the world.
